We are a high trust, thought provoking and solution oriented network for post-secondary executive leaders who want to make a difference.

We give effect to our mission by:

Our Strategic Goals

Goal 1: Ignite executive leadership insights
  • Mine PIN members for outstanding practices and expertise and share on the PIN website
    • Status: Ongoing
    • Identify innovative practices in post-secondary education generally and in PIN member institutions specifically, and share on the PIN website
    • Status:  Ongoing
    • Identify strategic issues facing post-secondary education globally and engage members with these issues.
    • Status:  Ongoing

Goal 2: Implement initiatives to engage members

  • Revise and revitalise PIN website
    • Status: Achieved
  • Test online activities between conferences
    • Status: Achieved - successful webinar series. Webinars now BAU
  • Refocus newsletter to embrace thought leadership and to enhance readability
    • Status:  Ongoing
  • Design and establish an orientation process for new members
    • Status: Not yet achieved
  • Strategically and purposefully focus conference themes to achieve the new PIN vision.
    • Status: Achieved

Goal 3: Recruit a geographically diverse membership of future thinking post-secondary leaders

  • Create a PIN elevator pitch
    • Status:  Not yet achieved
  • Recruit members to reflect our Vision and Mission
    • Status:  Ongoing
    • Identify movers and shakers and invite them to join
      • Status:  Ongoing
    • Pursue intentional geographic diversity
      • Status: Outcomes not yet achieved
    • Leverage World Federation relationship.
      • Status: Achieved and on going - strong attendance for webinars, and Leadership Summit

Goal 4: Build an effective partnership with the World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics

  • Develop a sustainable model to manage the WFCP Leadership Affinity Group, including an integrated PIN conference as part of the WFCP World Congress every second year
    • Status: Achieved, with successful webinars and a well supported Leadership Summit in San Sebastian.
  • Conduct an annual Board assessment of the World Federation partnership.
    • Status: Achieved June 2022 Executive meeting. Agreed to continue the relationship and to run another Leadership Summit in Montreal in 2023

Our Guiding Principles

As a Network we agree to observe these guiding principles for our work together and norms for how we will interact.

1) How We Will Approach Our Work

  • We will get together in an environment of high trust to share information, become inspired, and discuss challenges, triumphs, and disappointments.
  • Build our understanding of the ever-changing global environment so that we may promote more justice and more learning.
  • Engage with the critical issues that affect diverse postsecondary education institutions in order to act in a manner which furthers student learning.
  • Facilitate communications as they relate to administration, curriculum, instruction, faculty, staff, student services, and joint business development.
  • Cooperate in arrangements for international visits.
  • Share information about the vast menu of participation activities among PIN members to improve learning opportunities for students.
  • Work in partnership among PIN members to deliver programs, promote joint projects and collaborate with the private sector.

2) Relationships

  • Recognize that individual members participate for reasons important to them.
  • Be sensitive to each member's principles, resources, and interests.
  • Mentor/develop/support new leadership.
  • Collaborate outside of plenary sessions for mutual benefit.
  • It is expected members will share friendship, knowledge and experience with other members.

3) Decision Making

  • Be clear on time resources, and commitment toward chosen initiatives.
  • Set the general direction of the Network through the Executive Committee.
  • Strive to achieve improved student outcomes as priorities are established.
